The term I CHING means "The book of mutations". This art describes the present of whoever consults it. Would you like to know what is happening with your present?

The I CHING seeks an approach to everything that happens in our lives and that is in constant change and mutation. This millenary art dates back to 1200 B.C. and is based on a book: a Chinese oracle.

Given its relevance, remaining for so long among societies, it is a very common practice in the East and West.

Legend has it that a Chinese emperor, contemplating the stars and wanting to understand the wishes of the Gods, created eight symbols that would help him to know the meaning of life, and our path in it. Each of these eight symbols is called a "trigram" and if we interpret and combine them together, we will have 64 hexagrams as a result.

The interpretation of these figures are the ones that will give answers to our questions in life today.

The 64 hexagrams or Gua (the symbols of the lines), represent and describe the diverse movements that the situations in our path experience. They are not something linear and that will happen in a certain way. They describe manifestations, ways in which scenarios present themselves to us, and many times disappear. This will show us some issues of our own life, to learn, evolve and become better human beings.

What is the I CHING for?

The book of mutations, the I Ching, can be used as an oracle. But it does not give an absolute answer, that is to say that you cannot consult it to get a "yes" or "no" answer. For example: Will I get the job I want? Will I have children? are incorrectly phrased questions, as they would only be answered with a yes or a no. This answer must be interpreted: the answer is "yes" or "no".

This answer must be interpreted: the question must be asked in an open and broad manner. That is why the I CHING is considered a kind of mathematical oracle, which answers by means of general ideas that guide you on the way forward. We could ask: How should my love relationship be at this moment? and we will surely find an answer.

How do I make an I CHING consultation?

Three special coins are used for consultation: each one has two different sides.

There are many ways to consult the I Ching, but the three coins is the best known method. The question is asked, and for this the one who consults must have a special attitude of great concentration and believe in the method.

They are tossed six times in the air. Each side of the coin has a value that can be two (yang) or three (yin). Each toss will result in the sum of the value of each coin, a number between six and nine.

Example: 2+2+2= 6, o 3+2+3=8, etc.

Each number corresponds to a different type of line, and we will start drawing them from the bottom up. When we have all six lines drawn, we will form a drawing called a hexagram, which has a meaning and a name.

Once we know which hexagram will give the answer to our question, we look for it among the sixty-four hexagrams in the book, they all have a name and we will interpret the answer.

For example:The picture above represents the forty-eight hexagram, called "The Well of Water" and one of the answers it gives is the following:

"The well penetrates deep and the water rises.

The well nourishes and does not run dry.

To descend first in order to rise later

is the requirement of the well."

Does it seem simple to you? It is not, it is a game that has lasted thousands of years and many believe that the book on which it is based, where we look for the answers, is at the same time a treatise of philosophy, oracle and millenary wisdom.

It is a millenary practice, which provides us with wisdom about a part of our daily lives.

Something interesting that this art of divination analyzes in depth is the symbolic relationship of family ties and the conformation of each relationship of our loved ones.

To be able to understand that certain energies and programming already predetermined by previous generations can condition our current life is something that can give us a tool to unlock something that happens in the present.

We must always keep in mind that this type of millenary practices were created under a pattern of oriental culture and teaching from ancient China. Its symbology and ways of navigating the interpretation of energy and the events that occur in our environment are closely related to ancient practices and customs.

If when consulting the I CHING we receive at times answers that do not have a concrete logic or a very linear approach to the conflict presented in the question, we should try to meditate on a "coded" or encrypted meaning within the interpretation received.

An art of divination that was created in 1200 BC must have much more to explore...
